TASTING NOTES
Sweet cherries, vanilla, and subtle tobacco on the nose. Layers of fresh fruit are
complemented by savoury notes on the palate. This is a rich, complex wine with silky
tannins and a lingering finish.
AGEING POTENTIAL
This wine will continue to improve with a few years of bottle age from vintage.
THE VINEYARD
Pinotage came from a very large block of dry farmed grapes in the Voor Paardeberg,
Carignan from 45-year-old vines in Wellington, Tempranillo and Durif from Franschhoek
and Grenache from Wellington.
WINEMAKING
Harvest date: Pinotage end Jan 2019; Carignan early March; Tempranillo & Durif midMarch; Grenache various.
Fermentation: Mostly in small, open fermenters, regular punch downs.
Maturation: Carignan - flex cubes, French oak staves (with toasting for Rhone varietals);
Durif - 100% new oak barrels; Tempranillo - mixed age oak barrels; Grenache - older
oak barrels.
